Enjoying the almond blossom route is one of the most special plans that can be made in the province of Alicante during the winter.
The almond tree is a characteristic tree of the Costa Blanca, which reaches all its splendor thanks to its climate of mild winters and endless sunny days. The quality of its fruits is recognized throughout the world, and Alicante is famous for being the largest producer of nougat, based on these delicious almonds.
But before it is harvested, the flowering of the almond tree colours the Alicante mountains in pink , giving rise to a true spectacle of nature.

When is the best time to enjoy the almond blossoms in Alicante?
From the end of January, and essentially during the month of February, is the time when the almond trees reach their maximum splendor, so these are the perfect dates to go on a field trip and fall in love with the beauty of the almond blossoms.
This year 2023, a cold wave has coincided with the time of flowering, so the almond trees are expected to have fewer flowers than in previous years. In addition, the annoying Xylella , a bacterium that is affecting the Alicante fields, has forced some farmers to cut down their almond trees and replace them with new, younger ones. However, the landscape is still worth a good visit!
