From the end of January, through the month of February, and even in mid-March, it is a perfect time to take a field trip and fall in love with the exquisite beauty of the almond trees in bloom.

The almond tree is very characteristic of the province of Alicante, thanks to the optimal climatic conditions found in the area; in fact, very popular and recognized by all is the famous and popular almond nougat of Alicante, made with the tastiest almonds.

1. The Relleu Valley:

Very close to Villajoyosa and our hotel is Relleu, you can access this town by the road that connects Villajoyosa with Sella and Orcheta. Relleu is a small village, ideal to enjoy the almond trees in bloom and its beautiful scenery; We recommend you take a camera and immortalize this beautiful flowering moment.

The cooperative, dedicated almost exclusively to the production of almonds of different varieties, create some interesting visits, where they explain the different types of almonds they produce in the area and their differences; They also hold a nougat making workshop and a visit to the almond groves and town centre, where the oldest church bells of the province of Alicante can be found.


2. The Valley of Guadalest:

In this valley also known as the Jalón Valley or Xaló, you can walk among hundreds of almond trees, cherry blossoms and chestnut trees, it is one of the most recognized places in Spain to see almond blossoms, and a very romantic and recommended visit to enjoy with a partner.

The route is very comfortable, without slopes and suitable for all ages, as you walk along asphalted roads, between striking fields with blossoming trees. The walk starts in the Eco park of the village of Alcalalí where you can easily park, after you have started the route you will cross the river Gorgos, after crossing this, you will marvel at the sight of the almond trees in bloom and the rustic white stone masonry that delimits the terraces and increases its charm.

The whole route is indicated and passes through the Hermitage of San Joan de Mosquera located in a Moorish farmhouse, or the (viewing point) Mirador del Terrer, which is worth visiting.

In Alcalalí, with the flowering of the almond trees, the Feslalí, Alcalalí en flor, is organized, a festival where the whole municipality is involved and where guided tours are organised to visit the almond trees, craft fairs, tastings of typical products made with almonds, like milk, carquinyolis, (dry almond biscuits) pastissets d'ametla, (filled almond mix pasties), mantecaos, (Spanish sweets, nougat) coca ... and where workshops, exhibitions and even show cooking is also held.

Other villages of this particular valley that we recommend you visit during this special time, when the almond trees are flowering, are Parcent, Llíber, Benigembla in which you can also visit the Lavadero (washing area) and its variopintos riuraus (arched terraces) Yacimiento rupestre Pla de Petracos (prehistoric paintings) and Xaló rock deposit where you can visit its wine cellars , try the tasty mistela, and enjoy its antiques trail, which is held every Saturday morning.
