Being a Wedding Planner at Hotel Montiboli: what a wedding looks like from the inside
Organising the perfect wedding isn’t just about choosing the flowers or the menu. It’s about emotions, important decisions, and trusting someone to guide you through the entire process. Join us as we discover how the wedding planner at Hotel Montíboli works.
The person behind your “I do”
Some people organise weddings… and then there are those who live each one as if it were their own. That’s our dear Irene Sala, the wedding planner at Hotel Montíboli.
Her story doesn’t begin in an office, but as a child with a diary in hand, determined to organise all sorts of plans. Even then, she knew event planning was her calling, and over time she turned that instinct into a profession.
Choosing her path was easy: creating special moments for others by organising unique weddings. Today, after more than ten years in the industry, she’s certain of one thing: it’s not just her job, it’s her way of life.
When you ask her what she loves most, Irene doesn’t talk about décor or logistics. She talks about people; about the love stories that bring each celebration to life and the trust each couple places in her hands. About that moment when they stop being clients and become something closer. Because yes, organising a wedding involves many things… but for her, the real challenge is supporting and connecting. In the end, what truly matters is being allowed to be part of their story.
Planning timelines and wedding seasons
Weddings tend to be concentrated in two main periods: spring (April and May), when morning celebrations are most popular, making the most of mild temperatures and daylight; and late summer (September and October), when weddings are often held in the afternoon, seeking the coolness of dusk after the summer heat.
As for planning, preparations usually take between six months and a year. However, depending on venue availability and the complexity of the event, this timeframe can sometimes be reduced by half. We’re ready to give you our very best.
Genuine support from start to finish
The process begins with a first contact, when the couple discovers Hotel Montiboli and realises there’s no better place to host their wedding. From there come the visits, meetings, planning, and questions… and this is when Irene steps in. There’s one thing she’s very clear about: “There are no bad questions, because when it comes to your wedding day, everything matters.”
For months, Irene works side by side with the couple, carefully shaping every decision until everything falls into place: “A wedding doesn’t come together on its own… It’s coordination, communication, and trust between many people.” There’s a word she repeats often: “we”. A perfect example is when a couple gave her a T-shirt that read Team Wedding. It couldn’t better define her way of working.
No two weddings are the same
Although all weddings share a common structure—ceremony, drinks reception, banquet, and party—no two are ever the same. Decorations may look similar, but what truly makes the difference are the small details: the song that plays at a particular moment, how the drinks reception is organised, the chosen colours, or the flowers.
Speaking of flowers, she explains: “It’s a world of its own. They say much more than it seems; they speak about the couple, they tell your story…” That’s why Irene will help you find the option that best reflects your personality.
Signature cuisine
If there’s one thing guests will always remember, it’s the menu. At Hotel Montiboli, the culinary offering is given great care, focusing on the highest-quality ingredients and bespoke menus for each couple, with the hallmark of the hotel’s Restaurant El Emperador.
Trends may change, but some dishes remain favourites, such as salmon tataki or a more contemporary option like beef tenderloin.
Getting married by the sea: a unique privilege
One of Hotel Montiboli’s greatest attractions is its setting. Its sea views and variety of spaces allow for truly special weddings—from ceremonies overlooking the Mediterranean in gardens or even on the beach, to more intimate indoor celebrations.
The hotel offers countless hidden corners to explore, thanks to its natural surroundings with scenic paths and beautiful coves. It’s an intimate, highly romantic place—perfect for special moments like a marriage proposal.
Having a wedding planner within the hotel also makes the entire process easier, as she knows every corner, every detail, and stays with you from beginning to end.
Advice from someone who’s seen it all
Irene shares one of the most valuable pieces of advice in her profession: “If I had to give just one piece of advice, it would be to be clear about what you want. It sounds simple, but it isn’t. There are so many ideas, so many options, that it’s easy to lose your way. And when that happens, you might reach the day without feeling it’s truly yours.”
After so many weddings, she’s certain: “Without good music, flowers that show personality, and high-quality food… there’s no wedding!”
Much more than organising an event
On the wedding day, while everything unfolds, Irene remains calm—and that’s thanks to all the preparation she has shared with you beforehand. Once the day arrives, your only task is to enjoy it and let yourself be carried along.
And although she has experienced many weddings, there’s something that never changes: the emotion, the glances, the hugs, the nerves before walking in… These are the moments that make each wedding special. Like when the couple enters and emotion fills the room, or when a mother and child exchange a look and share something no one else expected.
For her, being part of this is a privilege. Some jobs are done; others are felt. And this, without a doubt, is one of them. Irene sums it up simply: “Remember this unique day, because it will be one of those that, over time, will still make you smile".
