Cala del Xarco: the walk to one of the best coves in Villajoyosa
Villajoyosa is famous throughout the province of Alicante for its fantastic beaches and coves with crystal clear waters. Among a highly varied selection, Cala del Xarco stands out, one of the most unknown beaches in the municipality, despite the fact that it is a pleasant walk from the Hotel Montiboli.

What is Cala del Xarco like?
La Cala del Xarco, also known as Playa del Charco, extends over 400 meters in length, forming a picturesque bay sheltered by a 16th century watchtower, declared an asset of cultural interest.
Its rounded shape protects the beach from the waves, turning it into a kind of large natural pool to which it owes the nickname of "El Charco". All this, added to the transparency of its turquoise blue waters, make it an ideal place for bathing.
It is a pebble beach, surrounded by small cliffs and naturally divided into two halves by the orography of the land, one of which has been reserved in recent years for bathers who come with their dogs. A natural environment!
Where is Cala del Xarco located?
Playa del Charco is located at the southern end of the municipality of Villajoyosa, just over a kilometre from the Hotel Montíboli through a forest path on the edge of the cliffs. The trail starts from La Caleta beach and is in itself a real pleasure to enjoy the sea and the views with endless viewpoints from which to capture some of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Costa Blanca.
It is also possible to go there by car and has a small parking area. It takes just over ten minutes from the Hotel Montíboli or from the centre of Villajoyosa on the N-332. But be aware! The exit is not well indicated and the road is not in good condition. The best thing is to walk from the surroundings of the Montiboli Hotel.
