Cala Bol Nou: the most unknown beach in Villajoyosa
Cala Bol Nou is one of the best beaches in Villajoyosa and regardless of the time of year it is always worth a visit. Completely surrounded by slender cliffs, this beautiful beach of golden sand and pebbles is located a few meters from the well-known Playa Paradís, which makes it a quiet and little-known alternative very close to the Hotel Montíboli.
Without a doubt, Cala Bol Nou is a perfect place to enjoy the sea thanks to its crystal clear turquoise waters. A picturesque cove worth photographing that you will stay in your memory forever.

What is Bol Nou Beach like?
The cliffs, over 40 meters high, that surround Cala Bol Nou make it a unique beach in the municipality of Villajoyosa. The sandy area extends over 230 meters in which it is dominated by a very pleasant coarse and golden sand, dotted with banks of boulders. The width of the beach is around 35 meters.
Although the waves are moderate due to the fact that it is a fairly closed beach, on the rocks at the northern end, the waves of the sea have sculpted delicate shapes, creating multiple cavities that have given rise to an ideal corner for diving. In its clean and transparent waters, along with numerous species of fish and crustaceans, it is even possible to spot an octopus and sea urchins.
Cala Bol Nou has all kinds of services such as footbaths, lifeguards and even a beach bar that is open most of the year offering drinks and snacks.
For all these reasons, Cala Bol Nou has been awarded numerous recognitions such as the Blue Flag and the Qualitur Flag.

Where does the name of Cala Bol Nou come from?
It sounds strange to many and very few know the origin of the name of Bol Nou Beach. A place-name of marine origin closely linked to the history of the municipality of Villajoyosa itself.
In the past, the inhabitants of the coastal towns were not in the habit of enjoying the beaches as we do today, conceiving them as places for leisure and relaxation. In the past, the beaches were used for work related to fishing and this sandy area must have been an example of this.
The word "Bol" refers to a variety of net fishing gear typical of the area, which would mean that the "Bol Nou" (New Bowl) was established on this beach, a new space for fishing compared to the old one that exists elsewhere in the municipality. Did you know about this curious origin?

How to get to Cala Bol Nou?
