Guadalest

Guadalest Castle

One of the ideal places for a getaway is Guadalest, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. It has managed to maintain over time the most typical features of the inland villages of Alicante, which is why it was declared a historic-artistic site in 1974.

The Castell de Guadalest is an 11th century fortress, created by the Muslims in medieval times. It is located on a rocky outcrop at an altitude of 596m, in the highest part of the municipality. This town is one of the must-see places in the area, as well as walking through its curious white streets and visiting its many museums, it is also very pleasant to take a walk surrounded by nature along the Guadalest reservoir.

Alicante

Alicante

As the capital of a province, Alicante offers many and varied options for everyone. The Castle of Santa Barbara is a must if you are visiting the city, from the top you can enjoy the incredible views of the city. The MARQ (Archaeological Museum of Alicante) has permanent exhibition halls showing the rich history of the Costa Blanca (Roman culture, Iberian, prehistory, etc.) as well as temporary exhibition halls.

Another obligatory place to visit is the Paseo de la Explanada, here you will find the most typical image of the city. Close by is the harbour and the city centre, where you can go shopping or attend the Teatro Principal.

One of the boat trips departing from the port of Alicante that you can enjoy enormously is to the island of Tabarca, a former pirate refuge and an ideal place for snorkelling, as it is the first marine reserve in Spain. We can't forget Alicante's big week, the Bonfires of San Juan, authentic works of art that decorate the streets of the capital every year.

In the municipality of Callosa d'en Sarrià we find the best natural pools in the province, Las Fuentes del Algar. A natural spot with a high degree of ecological richness with abundant Mediterranean vegetation, spectacular waterfalls, springs and pools of crystal clear water from the river Algar, which allow us to spend a day of fun and refreshing.

Elche

Elche

In this city we find the Palmeral de Elche, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, created by the first Muslims who founded Elche, and composed of several varieties of palm trees of great antiquity, touring its orchards, courtyards and gardens is certainly a pleasant option. Other places to visit are the Basilica of Santa Maria de Elche, Palacio de Altamira and the Huerto del Cura Garden.

It is also highly recommended to see El Misterio de Elche, declared by Unesco a masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, as well as a Festival of International Tourist Interest, it is a sacred-lyrical religious representation that recreates the Dormition, Assumption and Coronation of the Virgin Mary, held on two days every 14 and 15 August in the Basilica of Santa Maria de Elche.

Benidorm

It is impossible to hear Costa Blanca and not associate it with Benidorm, the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca. It has a wide range of leisure and entertainment for all ages. It is a must to visit the old town of Benidorm, visit the church of San Jaime and the castle square, stroll along the Levante and Poniente beaches, admire the skyscrapers and enjoy its warm climate all year round.

The city of Benidorm also offers various theme parks and amusement parks, such as Terra Mítica or Aqualandia, shows and spectacles, as well as golf courses to enjoy to the maximum. It is not for nothing that it is called the "New York of the Mediterranean". A popular excursion is a boat trip to Benidorm Island, an ideal place to spend the day.

Altea

Another of the most charming places on the Costa Blanca is Altea. A Mediterranean town nestled on a hill that is characterised by its white houses, its cobbled streets that lead to the sea, and by the domes of its church.

Of fishing origin, Altea is also a very artistic town with a marked bohemian character, you can find a wide variety of crafts and art galleries, enjoy the square in the old town and the Church of Altea, Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, with its characteristic blue domes and its viewpoints.

The surroundings of Altea also have a great tourist value due to its scenic importance, such as the Mascarat canyon, the Sierra Gelada Natural Park, or the Sierra de Bernia, all of them incredible natural sites that are worth touring and visiting.

Villajoyosa

Villajoyosa

Villajoyosa offers a 15 km coastline full of leisure, gastronomy, nature and history. Endowed with good weather all year round, this Mediterranean gem is a great choice for a holiday. Some of the areas you can visit are the picturesque streets of the old town, the Church of the Assumption is a must.

You will be amazed by the port and its fish market, the watchtowers along the coastline that were used to prevent pirate attacks, the beaches and coves of paradise and the Chocolates Valor factory and museum. This factory offers free guided tours and is one of the best gastronomic experiences you can have in Villajoyosa.

Finally, experience its famous Moors and Christians festivities, an authentic theatrical performance that involves the whole town and has been celebrated for 250 years!
