“Montíboli Cultural” floods some of the hotel's spaces with contemporary art with the visit of 5 international artists
With the arrival of spring, the Hotel Montíboli is filled with contemporary art thanks to “Montíboli Cultural”, an exhibition that will bring together, until the end of the season, five international artists living on the Costa Blanca who will exhibit their works in spaces of the hotel as significant as the Pink Room.

Natalia Caballé, director of corporate image and institutional relations at Servigroup Hotels, serves as curator of this unique exhibition that for five consecutive months will bring to Villajoyosa the work of plastic artists of varied styles and themes united by their passion for the Mediterranean, their way of life and its landscapes that are so identified with the Montíboli Hotel. In the words of Caballé: “Montíboli Cultural aims to bring art closer to hotel guests and to all those clients who come there simply to enjoy its gastronomy and atmosphere, even if they are not staying with us. Additionally, we would like to provide the opportunity for artists in the area to have a special space in which to exhibit their work. “I think it is a very special initiative”.

A native of Poland, Edyta Plodzien has been charged with inaugurating this cycle of artists with her work in the form of watercolours. Plodzien: “I love watercolour for its subtlety and freedom. and because it is unpredictable. Could there be anything more beautiful? I am a creator based on water and the intensity of ink. And there the path begins…” Plodzien is a professional pianist and she tells how music has always inspired a world of colours in her, so much so that she dyed the black and white keys of the piano with blue, red or violet tones.

In 2016, after a life dedicated to music, Plodzien - who in the photographs that accompany this text, is shown explaining what is hidden behind her works to Natalia Caballé – she began taking watercolour classes from such prominent teachers as Bernardo Hernández, participating in group and individual exhibitions in museums such as the National Centre for the Arts or “El Palco” in Guadalajara, both in Mexico, where the artist lived during those years.
In her work, and this exhibition is proof of this, nature themes predominate, mainly trees. Plodzien: “I am grateful every day for the presence of nature, and with my watercolours I pay tribute to its beauty. The colour, the texture, the aroma, the memories of my past…” Today, Plodzien lives in Alicante, but is closely linked to Albir, where she has exhibited on several occasions, and has incorporated the sea as one of the main sources of inspiration for her work.

Furthermore, without leaving the hotel, the Emperador Restaurant also adheres to the “Montíboli Cultural” initiative with the exhibition, for the second consecutive year, with a piece signed by Georgie Poulariani. Based in Benissa, the sculptor began his career at the age of 44 as a self-taught artist, exhibiting his work in prestigious galleries and museums around the world. On this occasion he shares with the diners of our Restaurant his work Carmen, a Corten steel sculpture inspired by feminine sensuality.

With these words, we can only invite you to enjoy the “Montíboli Cultural” initiative on your next visit to Villajoyosa. Without a doubt, a unique opportunity to enjoy the best contemporary art on the Costa Blanca in a unique environment. We would also like to announce that the next artist that we will have the pleasure of hosting from June 5th will be Marita A. Guardia.
